ABOUT THE POSITION

Data plays a vital role in Babyshop’s organization, where it acts as the foundation to our everyday work; whether it being more traditional reporting about what has happened, ad-hoc analysis to understand why that happened, or highly complex machine learning models to predict what will happen. We truly believe that one of the key factors of gaining a competitive advantage in a highly competitive market, is through the use of our data. As a Data Engineer, you will join the Data Team consisting of people with different expertise; Data Warehouse Developer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, BI Developer, ML Engineer etc, working with data in all stages. We use a combination of Fivetran and Apache Kafka to load data into our DWH Snowflake as well as DBT for transformation. Here you will get your hands dirty to understand and transform data using SQL for downstream tasks, ranging from analysis, to BI, to advanced ML use-cases. We believe that how we leverage data, accompanied by a customer-centric mindset, is the differentiating factor and are looking for an individual who shares that belief.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Develop an understanding of source data as well as end-user needs, and use that to transform data into appropriate formats.
• Collaborate with the other members of the Data Team to leverage data end-to-end, from discovering and connecting new data sources, load and transform, to be used for use-cases within BI/ML.
• Use CI/CD best-practices together with version control to develop our dbt-workflow.
• Use SQL best-practices to create long-lasting, easily maintainable, high performant code.
  

WHO YOU ARE

• You have a passion for data & tech and appreciate a fast-paced entrepreneurial start-up vibe.
• You have experience with relational databases and an excellent understanding of SQL.
• You have experience in database design and modeling for data warehouse and business intelligence applications.
• You are interested in keeping up to date with technological advancements within the data field, and are not afraid to try out new tech.
• You are a strong English communicator, both written and spoken.

IT’S A PLUS IF YOU ...

• Have previous experience with dbt, and dbt Cloud.
• Have previous experience with Snowflake.
• Have previous experience with CI/CD and version control.

The Babyshop Group headquarter is in Stockholm with additional offices in Oslo and Paris. You find our modern automated warehouse and data-driven Customer Service and Photo studio in Jönköping. The position is based in our HQ office in Stockholm, Östermalm. As a Data Engineer you report to the Head of Data and belong to the Babyshop Group Tech-organization.
