Head of Category Products

In the role as Head of Category Products, you’ll be working within Babyshop Group’s Buying department and report to the Head of Purchasing.


As a Head of Category, you should:

Set and drive the business roadmap and strategy for your category in line with the overall company strategy and make sure that we build long term relationships with our key suppliers within the products area (Baby/Travel, Toys and Home)

Your main tasks:

  • Structure, lead strategic, proactive increase the sales and profitability for the category to deliver short- and long-term sales and profitability growth for the group KPIs set e.g., Sales, Profitability, and Inventory

  • Set the category roadmap and make sure that the correct product assortment is provided to the consumers at the right price and at the right time

  • Build category and brand strategies and define the best brand and assortment mix to meet business, profiling, and customer demands. Ensure alignment between branded and proprietary brands assortment supporting overall business goals of the company

  • Drive and develop the team and foster an environment of job satisfaction and positive morale in line with the Babyshop Group Core Values

  • Together with the business responsible to set yearly and seasonal budgets for the category

  • Managing inventory levels and increase the speed of inventory turnover for the category

  • Set, manage, and develop the category´s supplier/brand base. Negotiate vendor allowances and terms of purchase including an active management of the same to develop or exit suppliers/brands not in line with Category or Company performance metric set.

  • Plan and set the overall promotion and seasonal planning and develop strong internal relationships with key stakeholders and make sure all departments understand the purpose, roadmap, and goals for the category

  • Managing inventory levels and increase the speed of inventory turnover for the category

  • Lead category management projects to optimize assortment ranges and efficiency for the category and department

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree
  • Commercial mindset & strong track record from business-oriented roles. +5-years of experience in similar role
  • Strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Experience from project management as you will engage with various tasks regarding your categories
  • Ability to work in matrix organizations with various stakeholders at national and international level
  • Proven experience of people management
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A strong English communicator (both written and spoken)
  • Extensive experience in understanding consumer needs and retail environment
